THE KHC STORY
Love Mercy founder Julius Achon tragically lost his mother Kristina to the violence of the civil war. She was shot and killed, but would’ve survived if she just had access to basic medical treatment: her fundamental human right.
Julius dreamt of building a medical clinic in his home village in her honour, where women and children could access the vital, life-changing healthcare that he wished his mother could’ve had, and that he knew they deserved.
Over time, the vision grew to meet the key needs of the growing community: HIV management, continuity of care, and maternity care.

Julius’ vision for his community was one where no one had to experience what his mother did. He saw women and children leading thriving, healthy lives, where they were protected from disease, where they were truly cared for, and where they had access to their most fundamental human rights.
In 2012, Julius’ dream became reality. Through the support of AUCF and generous Love Mercy donors, the Kristina Health Centre opened its doors and began offering life-changing primary healthcare to rural communities.
In this massive milestone for the communities of Otuke, Julius’ love for his own mother became the empowerment of mothers and their children all over northern Uganda.
KHC is providing essential healthcare. Day-in, day-out.
