LIFE-SAVING EMERGENCY CARE FOR OTUKE DISTRICT
The Kristina Health Centre
Level IV transition
begins now.
For over a decade, Kristina Health Centre (KHC) has served as a beacon of compassionate, community-led healthcare in Otuke, northern Uganda. Tens of thousands of lives have been impacted by our talented and dedicated team—delivering babies, treating illness, and supporting families with dignity and care.
But when medical emergencies strike, patients must still travel over two hours to the nearest hospital in Lira. In life-threatening moments, this is time that most patients simply don’t have.
That’s why we’re expanding.
With your support, we are upgrading KHC to a Level IV Health Centre, bringing emergency surgeries, inpatient wards, and life-saving interventions directly to the community. This is more than a building project. It’s a lifeline.
Let’s bring urgent care closer to home.
5 years in the making, we’re breaking ground, and we need your help.
Give now to have a generational impact.
A BOLD STEP FORWARD
Transforming Kristina Health Centre into a
Level IV Facility

POWERED BY PARTNERSHIP
Our strategic partners are making the construction of the theatre and our level 4 transition a reality.
To complete the transition to level 4 status under Ugandan Health Department guidelines and provide a full suite of emergency care services, we’re completing a whole host of renovations and new construction in addition to building an operating theatre:
Upgraded Maternity Ward
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
New Men & Women’s Patient Ward
Laboratory
New Senior Clinical Officer’s Office
Upgraded Delivery Suite & Recovery
Dental Clinic
New hallways and walkways
Cafeteria
Mortuary
PURPOSE-BUILT INFRASTRUCTURE FOR LIFE-SAVING CARE
A full suite of upgrades to reach Level IV
Years in the making, here are the final plans for the theatre at KHC:
Bult on vision, guided by strategy.
Since opening in 2012, Kristina Health Centre has treated over 75,000 patients and safely delivered more than 1,500 babies. We've supported thousands of mothers with antenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding support, health education, and mobile outreach to remote communities.
From day one, our vision has been clear: deliver the safe, qualified, locally led healthcare to every person in Otuke that they need
and deserve. To keep that vision on track, we’ve followed a three-year strategic roadmap focused on sustainable growth and
long-term impact.
Now, we’re ready for the next big step: transitioning to a Level IV Health Centre and constructing an on-site operating theatre. This vital upgrade will allow our clinical team to handle medical emergencies on site, eliminating the need for a dangerous two-hour transfer to Lira. For mothers facing complications in childbirth, it’s not just an upgrade. It’s a lifeline.
Together, we can make this next step a reality.
THE ROAD TO LEVEL IV
This milestone has been a long time coming.
In 2022, we sat down with our Chief Medical Officer, Daniel Ayii, to talk about the KHC story, its massive impact, and his hope to provide vital emergency care to the communities of Otuke.
2 years later, we’re finally getting ready to make that dream a reality.
The theatre is the culmination of a 13 year strategic journey.
Since opening our doors in 2012, we’ve followed a strategic plan in scaling operations that prioritises quality of care, sustainability, and commitment to our long-term goals for the communities of Otuke.
We’re hoping to break ground in February 2025, and we’re excited to bring our community along for our journey to Level 4.
