"Hi, my name is Sarah Adero.”
"My children are a great blessing to me. I have five children, and this one here is my fifth. This is Emmanuella Aculu. She was born here at Kristina Health Centre on October 5th.
Emmanuella is my second child to be born here at Kristina Health Centre. I would not have been able to receive ongoing care if KHC were not here. KHC helped me in many ways. The KHC team did antenatal outreach in my community. The outreach team also gave out birthing kits for us. During my pregnancy, I could come to the centre if I had any complications.
When I arrived here, they began attending to me. During labour, there were complications with the birth. But, the midwife attended to the baby and the baby survived.
After the birth, the baby was immunized, we were given postnatal care, and we both went home healthy. I was very happy after giving birth to Emmanuella.
When I arrived at KHC I was in great pain, but they attended to me and I gave birth safely.
My humble request is that this facility would one day receive an operating theatre. Some mothers have complications that require surgery, and those have to be referred. A theatre would be of great service to this community.
Thank you to Love Mercy, thank you to Kristina Health Centre and the staff here, and thank you to my midwife, Anyice, who helped give me a safe delivery.”
Since 2012, the Kristina Health Centre has given communities the opportunity to receive care in a clean, safe, and qualified environment – something we believe everyone should have access to.
Consider signing up for The Mother Run this May to help support more safe births, like Sarah’s. Run. Walk. Cycle. Swim. Any movement. You choose! Your 5km a day - or 14km a week - will go to funding safe births for women and their babies in northern Uganda.
