All emergency or high risk births are referred to Lira hospital – 72 kms away on a bumpy red dirt road, and significantly under resourced.
In 2017, after much consideration, we renovated the Jim Fee patient ward of the Kristina Health Clinic to allow adequate room for the much needed maternity services. However, it was always a temporary solution to a greater problem. The women of northern Uganda were traveling long distances to reach care while in labour – a dangerous circumstance in any country, let alone rural communities of a developing nation.
We currently employ 5 midwives and offer antenatal and postnatal services to mothers.
We are on a mission to provide the best maternity health care in northern Uganda, providing mothers and their babies with the very best opportunity at life from the beginning.
